Product Manager

Kingsbridge is a mid-core strategy game, where players build their medieval towns and defend it against attacks from others. I worked on the game from near start all the way to global launch. I was responsible for most of feature and UI design, first session flow, narrative design and quest writing. I also ran and observed many user tests.

Development Assistant

Quarrel is an award-winning strategic word game combining elements from Scrabble, Risk and Countdown. I did QA for both iOS and XBLA versions and created marketing materials such as blog posts, the FAQ and the iOS launch trailer. I also planned and organised related events.

5D2

Designer / Producer / Artist

5 games in 5 weeks with 5 students working 5 days a week and 5 hours a day. That's 5D2 in a nutshell. It was a summer project where we tried to learn from the our mistakes and also make awesome games on the side. After the summer was over, we continued to work on two of the games to make them more polished.

All the games, source files and post-mortems are available here.

Terminator

Designer

I helped organise a card game workshop during manSEDANse Play!, a week-long festival of electronic culture held here in Tampere. The actual workshop was held by  Erik Svedäng, the indie developer behind Blueberry Garden. The idea of the workshop was to come up with a card game based on a randomly selected movie license using a regular 52-card deck.

My team drew up "Terminator" as our theme. We decided we wanted to embody the themes of chase, action and the unstoppable force of the Terminators. So we came up with a 2-4 player game, where you and your friends are chased by Terminators and the last one alive wins.

The game's rules can be downloaded here in PDF format.

How Was Your Day?

Designer / Artist

Inspired by the Global Game Jam, our game development club Score decided to organise its very own game jam. We had 42 hours to make a game based on the theme "Everything is different".

How Was Your Day?  is the finished result of our three-person team. My contribution to the game was level design and most of the graphics.

You can download the executable from here (see if you can find both endings!)

Grow Up!

Designer / Producer

Grow Up! was made as part of the 2010 Global Game Jam. The theme for that year was "deception". My game idea was of a seedling that has to grow towards the surface navigating only by the coloured layers of in the soil. There are pockets of water that speed up your growth and black rocks that slow you down. If the growth stops completely, the branch dies off. Fortunately,  the seedling keeps branching off constantly, so even if you "die" you can start immediately from the most recent branch.

I was lucky to work with an amazing team (largely comprised of the great guys at Kuuasema Game Studios). The game also won the Jammers' Choice Award.

The game is available here
